Kinetic Brewery Joins The BLVD

Kinetic Brewing Company Joins The BLVD

Lancaster, CA. 1/10/2012 – The City of Lancaster today joined with the BLVD Association and the owners of Kinetic Brewing Company to celebrate the newest addition to The BLVD. Kinetic, which is co-owned by partners Steve Kinsey, Myrle McLernon, Scott Ehrlich and Steve Eglash, features a wide range of microbrew beers in addition to an extensive menu.

“Just over a year after The BLVD Transformation Project was completed, the BLVD has truly hit its stride,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “As our downtown continues to grow, it has attracted a variety of high-quality restaurants, shops and businesses. Kinetic Brewing Company not only offers excellent food and one-of-a-kind microbrews; it also serves to enhance the ever-growing nightlife here on the BLVD. We are proud to welcome Kinetic as the perfect addition to the eclectic mix of experiences downtown has to offer.”

Kinetic Brewing Company is a full-service restaurant, offering lunch and dinner menus which feature a variety of dishes ranging from the eclectic to the traditional. Kinetic strives to use local ingredients to provide a fresh alternative to traditional pub food. The menu includes standard offerings as well as seasonally rotating options made to pair well with its locally-crafted beer. The restaurant also features a full bar with several original beers on tap, all manufactured on-site.

“Kinetic is truly one-of-a-kind here in the Antelope Valley,” said Steve Kinsey, partner and brewmaster. “Not only do we manufacture a variety of unique craft beers on-site; we also offer an excellent menu with a variety of choices to please all palates. Whether you’re looking for a delicious meal with the family or a late night out with friends, Kinetic is the place to be.”

Kinetic was one of 10 businesses selected to receive a façade improvement grant through the City’s Downtown Commercial Property Improvement Program. Through the program, businesses were eligible to apply for up to $40,000 in grant funding, with the requirement that they contribute additional funds on a 1:1 matching basis. Applicants were evaluated on a competitive basis, with funds awarded to those who best met the program criteria. Criteria included whether the business

was a locally-owned, entrepreneurial venture; whether it met the target tenant mix for downtown; whether it filled an existing vacancy; and its strategic location. Kinetic met each of these criteria.

“The purpose of the Commercial Property Improvement Program was to attract new businesses to enhance the BLVD’s synergy, create jobs, and stimulate private investment, in addition to further beautifying the downtown area,” said Parris. “Kinetic Brewing Company was an ideal candidate for this program, and its opening furthers each of these goals.”

Construction of Kinetic, which encompassed a complete interior and exterior overhaul, pumped approximately $500,000 into the local construction industry. Partner Myrle McLernon, who also owns MDM Architects on The BLVD, served as architect and general contractor. All subcontractors used on the project were local. In addition to construction jobs, the microbrewery has created 24 permanent jobs.

For Kinsey, the opening of Kinetic represents the fulfillment of a long-standing dream. He spent 20 years in the entertainment industry, beginning with music and later transitioning to film at such firms as Lucasfilm. After working as a sound editor at Technicolor for nearly 14 years, Kinsey decided to take advantage of a looming round of layoffs by volunteering to leave in order to pursue his passion for microbrewing full-time.

“Microbrewing has long been an interest of mine, and I’ve dreamed of owning my own microbrewery and restaurant,” said Kinsey.  “Today, that dream has come true. I’d like to thank my partners, Myrle McLernon, Steve Eglash and Scott Ehrlich, as well as the City of Lancaster, for working with me to help make this dream a reality.”

Located at 735 W. Lancaster BLVD, Kinetic is one of 40 new businesses to open downtown since late 2009. It is open Monday through Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Thursdays from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm, Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 am to midnight, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
