WESTERN HOTEL MUSEUM

Dating back to 1888, the Western Hotel is one of the oldest structures in Lancaster. In its day the rooming house hosted everyone from mule skinners to British lords. Following a full restoration, the Western Hotel Historical Society succeeded in having the museum listed as a California Historical Landmark in 1988 - its 100th anniversary. Visitors may explore its extensive collection of historical artifacts and photos dating back to pre-Columbian times. The museum also has an active outreach program to bring the valley's fascinating history to local schoolchildren.
