Shelley Heffler: Community Quilt Panel Discussion (8/12 @ 6:00PM)

The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) is dedicated to serving the residents of the Lancaster and greater Antelope Valley community. MOAH takes pride in strengthening awareness, enhancing accessibility, and igniting the appreciation of art, history and culture.

Highlighting art’s ability to heal and bring together communities, MOAH is proud to present a talk centered on contemporary artist Shelley Heffler’s exhibition, We Are Home (2020).
Shelley’s Heffler’s : We Are Home: The Community Quilt Project (2020) is a collaborative work between Heffler, South LA (SoLA) Contemporary, and members of the Los Angeles community. Decorated squares are adjoined and arranged together into a large quilt, with each individual square representing personal definitions of ‘home’.

We Are Home (2020) serves as a reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and provides a means of communication for the community as well as demonstrates the power of social practice.
